What is Scrip?

Through Scrip program participating merchants pay St. Catherine School a percentage of sales made by school supporters.

The best known method, and the one that pays the highest percentage, is paper Scrip. St. Catherine School purchases gift cards from stores at a discount, then sells these certificates at full value retaining the discount amount as fund-raising income. For example, you purchase $200 of Scrip for Safeway, then you go to Safeway, buy $200 worth of merchandise, and pay for it with the Scrip. St. Catherine School bought the Scrip for $192, so the school makes $8 on the transaction.

There are also ways to register credit cards, debit cards and store customer loyalty cards through eScrip. After you register your cards with this provider, purchases made with a participating vendor are automatically credited to St. Catherine School. Different vendors donate different percentages of the sale. These percentages range from 1% up to 25%. For eScrip merchants, logon to the website www.escrip.com to see the percentages paid. Periodically we’ll distribute lists of percentages for Scrip Box merchants - or you can ask a Committee Member for a list.

Good Reasons to Use Scrip

Monthly Free Dress - When you purchase at least $200 of Scrip from the Scrip Box in one month, your children get free dress on the designated “Scrip Free Dress” day . Look for the Scrip Newsletter in the Brown Envelope the week before the designated date - on the back is a list of children who qualify for free dress.

eScrip

Introduced by Electronic Scrip Inc. (ESI), the eScrip program is a fundraising program that allows participating merchants to contribute a percentage of your grocery loyalty cards, credit card, and debit/ATM card purchases to the school or organization of your choice.
