| I have been in the field of education over the past 40 years. I hold two Life Credentials in Elementary Education, one for the state of Hawaii and the other for California. My teaching experiences have ranged from preschool through first grade, special education students (grades 3-8), tutoring (K-8), and running my own Summer Enrichment Academy(K-5). That brings me to my current position as the Resource Teacher (9 years strong!). This position enables me to work with students in grades K-8 by providing support for their academic achievements.
Philosophy: I firmly believe that children are innately curious and that they learn from their experiences. With this in mind, the Resource Learning Center is a place where interactive learning takes precedence. The students experience Project Based Learning (creating and developing)and are guided to take risks...to risk is to grow! The use of visual, auditory, and tactile modalities is evident from day to day, as is the student involvement in their own learning. Students have opportunities to work independently as well as cooperatively in order to strengthen or challenge skills across the curriculum. A variety of strategies are introduced and implemented in the program in order to establish continued use throughout their daily learning experiences.
Today leads to tomorrow, tomorrow leads to fulfillment of dreams. I say, "Learn to dream big!" |
